Pure Mountain Fun is a family-owned business whose focus is on designing modular and family friendly soft goods for families who enjoy skiing. Their design philosophy always gears toward allowing children the freedom to carry their own things while allowing parents a reprieve from carrying everything.

For this project, I was tasked with designing a bag for Pure Mountain Fun's new summer collection.

Conceptualization

The parameters given to us for the beach bag were mainly relating to contents held within the bag (clothes, bottles, shells, etc.), bag weight, and child-friendly sizing. Fabrics and materials could vary. Within these parameters I explored various concepts and presented them to the Pure Mountain Fun (PMF) representatives. The design above was the one chosen by the PMF representatives as the design to develop going forward.

Prototyping
Patternmaking

&

Various iterations of the pattern were explored, taking into account construction, materials, usability and sizing, before a final pattern was made. Two final samples were then created and refined using industrial sewing machines and industry standard stitching and thread.

Tech

Pack

A technical package containing the details of construction and production was designed and provided to PMF. The tech pack aligned with PMF branding and manufacturing limitations. Manufacturing is still in progress for this product.
